[But he's almost laughing as he says it, bumping his shoulder against Katsuki's. At this point, he knows how the death threats translate, just what he means, and even that dry response is enough to ignite that soft, warm glow in him again as he leads them towards a bench to change out of their shoes and into skates, not letting go of his hand until he has to to get his shoes off.]
It's just...different. When I'm using my quirk, the ice is part of me. I'm making it. Skating, the ice isn't mine, and it's not just my feet on the ice, it's the skates. That probably doesn't make any sense, does it?
[He's never tried to explain it before.]

[He retorts, challenging him, some of his fire calmed and softened by the affectionate way Shouto bumps his shoulder. He stares at him quietly, forgetting to insist that he lead until they're sitting and he's looking at his skates. He hates having to withdraw his hand, but... they're probably going to have to do a lot of hand-holding soon. He sucks at skating.]
Not really. [He smirks.] Is it similar to how I'm resistant to my own explosions, but I'll still burn my hand if I play with fire too much? Except you're just fucking clumsy on other ice?

[This...is flirting. And it feels weirdly comfortable, in a way he never expected it would. Especially with his present company. But he likes the banter, a lot.
He listens to Katsuki talk as he laces up his skates, tilting his head from side to side in a so-so gesture, lips slightly pursed as he thinks.]
Not exactly. More like--okay. When you use your quirk to fly, you're the one doing everything, right? So you don't really have to think about it. You automatically adjust your angle, how you hold your hands, the way you move your shoulders to turn. You're the explosion and the body. My quirk is the same. It's part of me. But ice-skating, it's like...if you were wearing a pair of Hatsume's rocket boots. You know they work, and how to work them, but they're not part of you. Is that better?
no subject
[It's their own brand of flirting. Aggressive and taunting as much as it's affectionate. He likes it, and he likes the weird fluttery warm yet exhilarating feeling he gets in his chest when they do it.]
[Katsuki listens, but he ends up snorting.] Tch...my quirk's way better than her shitty rocket boots. But yeah, I get it. It's different when it's something you've learned and been part of you your whole life.

[His skates laced, Shouto stands, leaving his jacket and shoes on the bench they've claimed as their own, and offers Katsuki his hand.]
Come on, let's go.
no subject
[Nevermind. He'll either learn soon enough or Katsuki will have miraculously absorbed the knowledge and skills of how to skate after one attempt. His skates laced up, he reaches and takes Shouto's hand, a little too firmly, and stands up.]
I'll let you lead the way. Just this once.
no subject
Guess you're feeling pretty generous. Is it because this is a date?
[Maybe he just...wants to say the word again okay.]
no subject
It's a bit easier on the floor versus the ice. At least he has a few more dignified seconds before they hit the rink. He squeezes Shouto's hand, already sweating a bit.]
Yeah...that's why. I ain't going to half-ass anything.
['Date'. It leaves a fluttery feeling in his chest, and the skating rink doesn't seem as big of a deal.]

[He'd never laugh, not at something like this. Especially since laughter would mean they never did something like this again, and he definitely wants to. He wants to go everywhere with Katsuki, now that they've finally managed to sort of figure out whatever this is.
Which does remind him, as he's stepping into the ice, still holding Katsuki's hand:]
So does this mean I'm your boyfriend?
no subject
He hasn't stepped on the ice yet, but he still nearly stumbles.
B
Boyfriend? Boyfriend. Fuck yeah. Boyfriend.]
Hell yeah it does.
no subject
[Good? Yeah, good. Good. Boyfriend. He's Katsuki's boyfriend. Which means...]
Then you're mine, too.
[Boyfriend. The word makes him weirdly giddy, his stomach doing a funny little flip. Silly, maybe, considering the things they've already done together, but still.
His fingers tighten as he feels Katsuki stumble a little, and he turns on the ice easily enough, reaching out his other hand for Katsuki's as he gently tugs the other forward onto the ice, eyes sparkling.]
Come on. Let's skate.
no subject
Yeah, well...you're mine.
[He says, partially competitive but one hundred percent sincere. He's too caught up in the new acknowledgement. Boyfriends. Him. Shouto, they're official. And Shouto called him his. It's enough to make his heart beat faster like he just got out of a fight, too captivated by Shouto's beautiful gaze to even notice he's graduated from the floor to the ice-]
Sure-
[Until he overextends one leg, yelps and scrambles to hold onto Shouto before slipping onto the ice.]
no subject
[He's starting to smile, pleased with that flush he sees spreading over the other boy's cheeks, pleased to know it's because of him...
...And then Katsuki slips, and Shouto is off-balance and distracted enough that he almost goes down, too, barely keeping his footing as he looks anxiously at his boyfriend.]
Katsuki! You okay? Sorry, did I pull too hard? Here, let me help--
[After all, it was his fault.]
no subject
You didn't do nothing. I was gonna say before-
dntryknskt.
[He starts to scramble up again.]
no subject
Either way, Shouto's here to take his hands and help pull him back to his feet.]
What?
[Was that a human language? He's not sure.]
no subject
I said I don't really know how to skate... I only skated once with Angela and I-
[Well. Let's not go there.]
no subject
[Oh. He doesn't really know how, he only did it the once, and still, he asked Shouto. Because...because he thought he'd like it. He's pretty sure his heart might actually break his ribs with the thump it gives, the sudden leap in his chest, and his cheeks are suddenly pink and warm as he blinks at Katsuki, the look on his face almost comical.
Katsuki did this for him.
The smile is slow, small, almost shy, ridiculously sweet.]
We'll do it together. Go slow. I know you'll get it in no time.
no subject
[He's embarrassed, and when he glances up he's about to ask Shouto why he looks like his brain just broke. Was this a shit idea? Shouto can't fully enjoy himself if he's stuck with a sub-par skater like him-
And then he smiles and Katsuki nearly slips because of that, a different kind of warmth flushing his face.]
You sure? I ain't going to fucking hold you back.
no subject
[The words are simple, an answer he doesn't even have to think about, because it's true. He'd rather do this with Katsuki, no matter what.]
Besides, you always put a hundred percent into everything you do. I know this isn't gonna be any different. Come on--
no subject
[He could kiss him right about now. And he probably would, if he wasn't confident that he might slip and bring them both down in the process. He just stares at Shouto, briefly speechless, before he ends up smirking, his eyes warm.]
You're going to regret that when I end up surpassing you.
no subject
No I won't.
[Why would he ever regret that?]
no subject
They're moving.
He's skating-]
Shit.
[Katsuki glances down, trying to move in tandem with Shouto.]
no subject
Don't do that. Don't overthink it, don't look down. Just move with me and let your feet follow, one at a time. Look at me. How did Angela teach you?
no subject
She said push with the back food- perpendicular to my front, but then I...
[He flushes instantly. He doesn't want to relive that embarrassing moment.]
no subject
[He finishes Katsuki's dropped sentence, and for once Katsuki is probably gonna be glad for that. Let's never let either of them talk about that embarrassing moment it's fine it never happened.]
It's okay. If you think about it too much, your brain is just gonna get in the way of your body. Just keep your eyes on me, and move like you want to catch up. You'll get it.
